
The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) held an internal seminar on “Islamic Ethics as a Field of Study” in the period from 3-5 January 2017 at the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) in Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) at Qatar Foundation (QF).
Dr Jeremy Koons from Georgetown University in Qatar presented about “ Western Secular Approaches to Ethics” while Dr Gamal Nassar - Chairman, Alternative Policies and Strategic Planning Forum in Egypt - presented about “Islamic Moral Philosophy Approach to Ethics”.
Discussions were enriched by presentations in different fields of Ethics by Dr Badrane Benlahcene –Associate Professor at CIS and member of CILE’s Advisory Board, as well as by Professors of CILE.
A public lecture was also held as a side event of this seminar on Tuesday Jan. 3rd ,2017 about where Dr Tariq Ramadan, Dr Jeremy Koons and Dr Gamal Nassar presented on “The Question of Ethics in Contemporary Time: Challenges and Prospects”.
This public lecture was attended by Professor Emad El-Din Shahin – Dean of the College of Islamic Studies as well as more than 100 audience from CILE’s guests.
