Call for Submissions: "Studies in Islamic Ethics" Book Series

SIE Book cover

The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) is pleased to announce an open call for submissions for its prestigious book series, Studies in Islamic Ethics. This double-blind peer-reviewed series, published in open access, explores the diverse dimensions of ethics within the Islamic world, encompassing both historical and contemporary perspectives.

We encourage submissions from young researchers and recently graduated PhD students who wish to contribute to this vital and expanding field. Successful authors will not only have the opportunity to publish their work in this distinguished open-access series but may also qualify for a short-term fellowship at CILE designed to support the refinement and finalization of their manuscript, or holding a small workshop around the book and its topic.

Scope of the Series

Studies in Islamic Ethics seeks to address the ethical dimensions of Islam across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • The history of Islamic Ethics: Analyses of foundational texts and philosophical traditions.
  • Applied Ethics: addressing modern-day ethical challenges and dilemmas including but not limited to medicine, technology, politics, human rights, and the environment.
  • Comparative Ethics: Dialogues between Islamic ethics and other ethical traditions.
  • Social Studies: Ethical discourses in various Islamic societies and eras.
  • Critical editions of classical literature on Islamic ethics.

The series accepts manuscripts in both English and Arabic. Arabic manuscripts should include an intensive introduction in English. We particularly encourage submissions that bring fresh perspectives or address underexplored areas of Islamic ethics.
