Call for Applications: Applied Islamic Ethics for the Contemporary World - Master of Arts Program at Hamad Bin Khalifa University

We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Master of Arts (MA) in Applied Islamic Ethics at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. This interdisciplinary, 36-credit graduate program is designed for students who seek to engage rigorously with ethical questions at the intersection of Islamic tradition and contemporary global challenges.

Why Applied Islamic Ethics?

The program offers a distinctive combination of theoretical depth and practical relevance, equipping graduates to address moral dilemmas across a wide range of professional and academic contexts. It is built on two integrated pillars:

  • Academic Foundations: Advanced study of moral philosophy, ethical theory, and normative frameworks grounded in the Islamic scholarly tradition.
  • Applied Engagement: Analytical and practical tools for addressing real-world ethical issues in fields such as technology, medicine, politics, and environmental studies.

 

A Forward-Looking Curriculum

Delivered entirely in English over two years, the program allows students to tailor their studies through a rich selection of electives, including:

  • Technology & Innovation: Islamic Ethics and Artificial Intelligence; Ethics in Science and Technology
  • Global and Public Ethics: Ethics of Migration and Human Rights; Peace, War, and Politics
  • Professional and Sectoral Ethics: Business Ethics; Islamic Bioethics; Environmental Ethics
  • Experiential Learning: Opportunities for specialized tutorials or professional internships
  • Classical Text Engagement: Guided reading and critical analysis of classical works in Islamic ethics, including texts by Miskawayh and al-Ghazālī, examined in dialogue with contemporary ethical questions

 

Admissions at a Glance

  • Eligible Backgrounds: Open to applicants from all undergraduate disciplines
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79 (exemptions apply for English-medium or native speakers)
  • Program Duration: Two years (36 credit hours, including nine courses and a thesis)
  • Tuition: QAR 2,500 per credit hour

  • Application deadline for international applicants: February 1, 2026
  • Late admission application deadline for Qatari and resident applicants: May 3, 2026
