Mariam Elzeiny
Mariam Elzeiny is a Research Assistant at the Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Cognitive Science from York University. Mariam previously served as a researcher at the Conjugal Slavery in War (CSiW) Partnership and Harriet Tubman Institute at York University. She is the recipient of the Dean's Award for Research Excellence (DARE) 2020 and 2021. Her research interest includes histories of Islam in the Americas, Islam in West Africa and histories of freedom and enslavement of Muslims in Brazil.
