The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) cordially invites you to its upcoming public lecture entitled: “Islamic Studies: The Need for Intellectual and Spiritual Revolution”.

The lecture will be presented by Dr Tariq Ramadan, CILE Director and Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University in the UK, and a Visiting Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. This event will be held on November 18th, from 7 to 9 pm in the Auditorium, QFIS new building, Education City.

The EBDA Institute, a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar Foundation, organizes its first program of the year in collaboration with CILE. The program will take place on October 20th , 27th , and November 3rd , 2015 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at HBKU Student Center. The sessions will be led by Dr. Tariq Ramadan, CILE Director. During these three sessions he will be speaking on the Principles of Leadership in Islam.

Dr Tariq Ramadan, Director of the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE), a member of the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) in Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), called for examining and reviving the concept of Ijtihad –broadening its scope and field, and linking it with contemporary contexts.

This event discusses the concepts of Hasan (Morally good) and Qabih (Morally bad) and source of ethical legitimacy through linking the question of values and ethics to various contexts and approaches where the legal, philosophical and spiritual aspects overlap.
