CILE holds a public lecture on Fatwa during Times of Revolution

The Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) cordially invites you to its upcoming lecture entitled: “Fatwa during Times of Revolution: the will of the Giver of Laws versus the self-interest of the Mufti ”.

The lecture will be presented by Dr Mu’taz Al- Khatib, Assistant Professor in CILE. This event will be held on May 21st , from 7 to 9 pm in room B015, QFIS, Education City.

The Arab revolutions raised a lot of questions concerning the position of the Mufti from political conflicts, his relationship with the authorities and audience, his ethics in light of the changing conditions of authority and the legality of employing Fiqh under the modern national state. This lecture addresses those questions through analyzing the reality and fatwas of revolutions in five countries: Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Syria.
