We are looking for a Project Analyst to report to a faculty or senior research staff. The purpose of the job is to support the research activities of faculty, senior research staff and the research center in general.

Key Result Areas

• Help prepare research proposals, and associated budget, intended for national and international funding agencies
• Assist in and support the planning, execution and submission of research projects
• Collect sources, digitalize material and analyze data to achieve the most optimal solution for research projects
• Perform day-to-day research management activities and facilitate communication among Islamic finance faculty including collaboration with outside researchers and institutions
• Help prepare reports, presentations and build databases related to research ventures and activities, including seminars and annual international conferences
• Help in the professional editing and proofreading of research reports, papers and articles to be published in academic and refereed journals and conference proceedings
• Maintain and develop networks and relationships in the research community and academic publishers, especially those with interest and expertise in the field of Ethics
• Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Operating Environment, Framework & Boundaries

Work is performed in a standard office environment and may require work outside of normal working hours. Must comply with QF health, safety, and environment policy as well as legal regulations applicable to areas of responsibility.

Communications and Working Relationships

• Supervisor – frequent contact to provide progress reports and to collaborate on planning
• Other researcher and scientists-(locally, regionally and internationally) regular contact for knowledge sharing

• Evaluates different options when solving problems
• Refrains from jumping to conclusions in the absence of clear evidence, takes time to collect facts before developing a solution
• Considers the medium term as well as immediate short-term impact of outcomes and actions
• Demonstrates an awareness of the impact of preferred solution on other projects/ related problems

Decision-Making Authority & Responsibility

• Accepts responsibility / accountability for own decisions and explains the rationale
• Reviews available information in conjunction with interested parties and arrives at decisions by consensus judging degree of consultation needed to ensure commitment
• Remains calm and resourceful when making difficult decisions, basing them on facts
• Ensures decisions are taken by self and group after reviewing available information while exhibiting reasonable foresight
• Conduct research and communicate findings and recommendations to direct supervisor, who takes final decisions

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• B.A or M.A. degree
• Background study and/or strong interest in the broad field of Islamic Finance or related fields
• Demonstrated proficiency in both English and Arabic
• Experience in research and publication management will be an advantage
• Evidence of excellent project management skills
• Evidence of excellent writing skills
• Ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications
• Articulate ideas clearly and concisely
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, excellent excel modelling skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
