Dr Matthew Anderson

Matthew Anderson completed his Ph.D. in Georgetown University’s Department of Theological and Religious Studies in 2018. His dissertation explored Taqī al-Dīn al-Subkī’s (d.1355) work, al-Sayf al-maslūl alā man sabba al-rasūl (“The sword drawn against the one who curses the Messenger”), a treatise devoted to blasphemy jurisprudence. More broadly, he is interested in diverse perspectives on the figure of the Prophet Muḥammad, Muslim-Christian relations, and theological, social, and political questions raised by religious diversity.
