Dr. Mariam Al - Attar

She holds a PhD in Islamic Ethics from the University of Leeds, UK. She worked as a part time lecturer of Ethics, Greek philosophy and Western modern philosophy at the University of Jordan. She was the Head of the Department of Ethics, Philosophy and Religion at King’s Academy- Jordan. Two months ago she joined her family at the United Arab Emirates and started working at the American University of Sharjah. She is the author of the monograph “Islamic Ethics: The Place of Divine Command Theory in Arabo-Islamic Thought” (Routledge 2010). Her major research interests include Islamic ethics, ethical theories, bioethics and contemporary Arabic thought.
