Dr. Alireza Bagheri
Lecturer of Medicine and Medical Ethics, School of Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran and Vice-Chairman of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee (IBC)

Lecturer of Medicine and Medical Ethics, School of Medicine, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He was a clinical ethics fellow in the Joint Center for Bioethics, University of Toronto, Canada 2007-08 and Erasmus Mundus Visiting Professor at the University of Leuven, Belgium in 2007. Bagheri is a member of the board of International Bioethics Association (IAB) and serves as the Vice-chairman of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee (IBC), in which he leads a working group on Organ, Cells, and Tissue Transplantation and Trafficking. He is also a member of the Istanbul Declaration Custodian Group. As temporary adviser to WHO, he has participated in the efforts to regulate requirements for Xenotransplantation Clinical Trials. He serves as a member of the ethics committee of The Transplantation Society (TTS). His research interests include clinical ethics consultation, brain death, organ transplantation, medical futility, externally-sponsored research in developing countries, cross-cultural bioethics, and Islamic bioethics.
